OUR HISTORY

Rosewood Baptist Church started as a satellite local mission of the North York Chinese Baptist church in April 1979.  Sunday worship service was held at Churchill Heights Baptist church from 1979 to 1985.
In 1985 Sunday worship service was relocated to Malvern Jr. Public School.  The church became independent and incorporated under the name Scarborough h Mission (Chinese) Baptist Church in April 1988.
In 1989, the church had acquired a building and started to hold worship services at 75 Kirkdene Drive, subsequently, Malvern Baptist church was also being planted.  Thanks to the Glory of God, Malvern Baptist Church became independent tin April 1993.
In 1993 September, Cantonese worship service relocated to Sir William Osler High School, start at 10am.  In January of the following year, the first English worship service began.  In1997, November, the church officially joined the Fellowship Evangelical Baptist churches of Canada as a member.
In the September of 1998, the church sold the property at 75 Kirkdene Drive and relocated the church office to Mary Ward Secondary School, at 3447 Kennedy Road.  Again this was a necessary move to adapt to the continuing change in the demographics of the Chinese population.
In January 2000, the church bought the present property located at 28601 McNicoll Avenue and began a new building project.  One year later, in October 2001, the current building was completed.  At the same time, the name of the church was changed from Scarborough Mission (Chinese) Baptist Church to Rosewood Baptist church to identify with the community that we service.
